Murungai ilai podi- Drumstick leaves podi for rice and dosa. Drumstick leaves or moringa leaves is considered as a super food. Moringa oleifera has anti oxidants and anti inflammatory properties. It is known for improving the hemoglobin levels in the body. It is very nutritious and used for treating health conditions thousands of years before. South Indian cuisine has a variety of powder varieties ranging from Idli milagai podi for idli, dosas , sambar podi, rasam podi for gravies. Some of the podis like murungai ilai podi, curry leaves podi, ellu podi, paruppu podi can be mixed with rice and eaten. Thengai podi, idli podi, poondu podi as accompaniments.
Dried moringa leaves are sauteed with tuvar dal, red chillies, jeera and garlic cloves in sesame oil and solid hing and powdered with crystal salt in the blender. Remove the leaves from the stem, wash and sun dry the moringa leaves for a day and then use. Alternatively keep the moringa leaves covered in a cloth bag or newspaper in the fridge for 3 days the leaves will fall off by itself.
Storage: Store it in an airtight container and use.

Recipe:
Total time taken- 15 minutes
Ingredients with measurements:
Sesame oil - 2 tsp
Dried Moringa leaves - half of 1 bunch
Garlic - a few cloves
Tuvar dal - 2 tbsp
Jeera/ cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Pepper - 1 tsp
Red chillies - 7/8
Hing - a pinch
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a kadai/pan, add hing, cumin seeds.
2. When it splutters, add garlic cloves.
3. When it turns little golden, tuvar dal, pepper, red chillies.
4. Add moringa leaves.
5. Saute everything till roasted.
6. Powder in a blender.
