Bread Sandwich

Bread sandwich - An easy-to-make sandwich recipe for breakfast or for an evening snack, this healthy bread recipe uses minimum ingredients but tastes absolutely delicious, wanting you to crave for more. The filling consists of cooked potatoes with onion, ginger, and garlic with some added spice powders. I'm using a sandwich maker to make these sandwiches, but you can make this in a tawa also.

What is needed?

Bread: I'm using store-bought white sandwich bread. Home-made white bread or whole wheat bread or multi-grain sandwich bread can also be used.

Veggies:

Potatoes: I'm using the normal ones used for making curry. Ooty potatoes used for making french fries that are bigger in size can be used. Baby potatoes are not to be used.

Onion - Bellary onions are used. Shallots can also be used.

Spices - Ginger, garlic, green chillies, jeera are used.

Spice powders - Homemade Coriander powder, Turmeric powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, fine pink salt, sandwich masala are used.

Sauces - Tandoori Mayo and Tomato ketchup are used, but these are optional. Tomato ketchup and mayo reduce the spice level and mayo lends a creamier texture to the filling.

Herbs: Coriander is used

Oils and fats: Butter is used. Ghee can also be used.

Method:

Wash, cook and peel the potatoes.

Saute onion, cooked potatoes with spices and spice powders added.

Add sauces and herbs.

Spread the filling and close with another slice.

Place it in the sandwich maker and cook till golden.

Storage:

The filling can be refrigerated for 2 days in an airtight container

Substitutions:

  • Use 1/2 tsp of amchur powder can be used in the place of tomato ketchup.
  • Use grated cheese instead of mayonnaise. Sprinkle the cheese on the top of the spread.
  • Garam masala can be used in the place of sandwich masala.

Equipment used: Kadai, sandwich maker, mortar and pestle.
