Tuvaram paruppu rasam


 

This can also be called as podi seythu potta rasam.

Recipe:

Ingredients with measurements:

Tamarind - lemon sized

Tomato - 2 (big)

Tuvar dal - 1/3 cup cooked

Water - as required 

Rasam powder:

To roast and powder:

Tuvar dal - 1 tsp

Coriander seeds - 2 tsp

Pepper - 1/2 tsp

Red chilli - 2 or 3

Turmeric powder

Salt

Tempering ingredients:

Ghee - 1/2 tsp

Mustard - 1/2 tsp

Curry leaves - 1 sprig

Directions:

1. Grind the tomatoes without adding water.

2. Extract juice from tamarind.

3. Boil tamarind juice with salt  and turmeric powder, rasam powder, tomato juice till raw smell disappears.

4. Add cooked tuvar dal, adjust the consistency and cook till frothy.

5. Add the tempering.
